GENERAL / RESIDENTIAL QUESTIONS

  1. Do I need to call my insurance before contacting a roofer?

Not at all! It is best to have your property inspected before your adjuster arrives, that way you are far better prepared to navigate the claims processes if needed.

  2. How do I know if my roof damage qualifies for an insurance claim?

That’s where our free estimate comes into help! Traditionally there must be sufficient damage in three out of four elevations (areas) for your insurance to process a claim resulting in a full roof replacement.

  3. Will my insurance premiums go up if I file a roof claim?

No, typically your premiums will not go up for one claim, it’s there for that reason! However,  insurance companies raise property insurance premiums regionally, so your rates could potentially go up after a large area storm regardless of you filing a claim or not.

  4. Can Patriot Roofing help me navigate the insurance process?

Absolutely, at PRC we are experts in storm damage restoration. We help you not only navigate the claims process but also understand the details and terminology insurance companies use to confuse clients. We are experts in all aspects, from navigating the claims process, to restoring your property to pre-loss condition.

  5. What’s included in an insurance estimate, and is it always accurate?

Our estimates will be as accurate as possible without removing shingles or components to check for hidden damage. However, if there are hidden damages the insurance company or the initial estimates miss there is a simple process to have that addressed! No one has X-ray vision, and the insurance companies understand that.

  6. What happens if my insurance company’s payout is lower than expected?

This is actually a very common occurrence believe it or not! There is always the chance of hidden damage behind shingles or under components. When this happens, there is a supplemental estimate sent to your insurance for any additional damages. If that does come up PRC will be there to guide, you through that process with ease.

DEDUCTIBLE & POLICY CLARITY

  1. Am I required to pay my deductible out of pocket?

Yes, your deductible is your legal responsibility to cover at the completion of repairs. However, this should be your only out of pocket expense for most insurance claims.

  2. Is it legal for a roofing company to waive or absorb my deductible?

Waiving or “eating” a deductible is illegal and could result in negative repercussions for you per: HB 2102 makes it a criminal offense, specifically a Class B misdemeanor, for a contractor to pay, rebate, credit, or decline to charge or collect a homeowner’s insurance deductible related to property damage claims.

  3. How can I ensure my insurance company covers the full scope of the damage?

We will have your back during the claim process; PRC will advocate for you to have any/all property damage properly notated and submitted within the scope of the insurance policy coverage limits. We understand the nuance and finer details of the claims process; you will have that knowledgebase and expertise supporting you!

COMMERCIAL / BUSINESS-FOCUSED QUESTIONS

  1. Do commercial property policies cover full roof replacement or just repairs?

Full replacement VS repairs is something considered based on several factors including the scope of the damage, as well as your policy coverage limits. This is very much a case-by-case scenario.

  2. Can you work with property managers and adjusters to streamline claims?

Absolutely! Our goal is to make any repairs a smooth and seamless process. Working with property managers and/or adjusters is part of that process.

  3. How long does a commercial insurance claim and roofing project typically take?

Commercial property repairs are a unique situation in and of themselves. Often, if there are any delays it can be caused by the insurance approval process simply due to the large scale and budget of a project.
